Enterprise Development and Innovation: Sligo County Enterprise Fund
Sligo County Enterprise Fund has successfully operated a Business Innovation and Enterprise Centre since 2002. This is a not for profit owned business, where 150 people are employed across 20 businesses.
They wished to expand their centre to support new enterprise development and entrepreneurship.
They partnered with First Western to develop a winning proposition that would secure the required grant aid. It was imperative that the new proposal would be a good fit with the economic landscape of the west of Ireland, would have high growth potential, providing for new jobs and business opportunities.
Our proposition was to develop Ireland’s first dedicated Digital Gaming Hub. Digital gaming is one of the fastest growing segments in the technology sector, yet is only a small part of the tech sector in Ireland. Globally it is larger than the output from television, firm and music industries. The industry, being highly creative in nature, involves many different skillsets . We deemed this sector ideal for Sligo and the North West of Ireland and now gives the region a foothold to become the leading region for the digital gaming sector in Ireland.
